Join us at Chalet Freshtracks and spend the week discovering magnificent on and off-piste terrain with our world-class instructors.

Our off-piste instruction weeks in Flaine are without a doubt some of the most popular holidays in our programme, as they really do offer something quite special. The winning combination of first class instruction with Yann, Diane, Alain and team and a warm welcome from our chalet staff is the top choice for many of our regular customers who return to Flaine again and again.

Our two chalets are very similar in layout and style and are both located in the colourful Scandinavian-style development, Les Chalets du Hameau, a few minutes drive from the main resort. In the Hameau itself there is a bar/restaurant L'Ancolie which also has a small shop with some local products. There is a free transport to and from the main resort until midnight and in good conditions you can also ski down to the meeting point in the mornings.

Each chalet has six bedrooms, with a large open-plan kitchen/lounge/diner complete with scandinavian wood-burner, TV and wi-fi. In true Scandinavian style, a sauna comes as a prerequisite in order to help you relax and refresh ready for another day off-piste! There are three twin bedrooms with ensuite and on the top floor, a further three twin rooms with a shared bathroom. These rooms are normally sold for single occupancy at a supplement. You can see a floor plan here.

Our fantastic chalet team will be serving up hearty breakfasts, scrumptious afternoon teas and delicious three course evening meals (with one day off). And of course we have chosen a good selection of wines to accompany the food!

The chalets are almost identical in layout - take a look at the floor plan.

At the heart of the Grand Massif, Flaine has fantastic, vast and varied terrain for skiers of all levels. As a resort built because of its majestic mountains and generous dumps of snow, Flaine benefits from one of the best snowfalls across the Alps, with an average of almost six metres a year. With its runs being predominantly north-facing, the resort is renowned for maintaining fantastic snow throughout the season.

Situated in the centre of a snowy bowl, there’s a wealth of off-piste terrain to ski both within the bowl and also over the top of the mountain ridges; in between pistes, tree runs, couloirs, gullies, powder fields and backcountry routes dropping from 2500m down to 700m.

Staying in the Freshtracks chalets is made even better by the epic on-snow experience that we want to give you! After an exploratory warm up day, you’ll be taught, guided, coaxed, tweaked (and entertained!) by some brilliant instructors.

The warm up day is free ski day where you get the chance to explore the resort, test your kit (and your legs!) and make sure you are all set for the days ahead.

The first morning with the instructors you will normally stay together as a large group for a couple of runs before a good old-fashioned 'ski off' where you'll all ski down an off piste section and will be allocated in to groups. From there you will spend the rest of your week with your group developing your skills and confidence moving to more and more challenging terrain and slopes as you progress. While the majority of your time will be spent off piste, you may well have some instruction on piste - particularly at the 'aspirer' (red) level - to improve your overall balance and control.

Yann is our head instructor in Flaine and has been managing our weeks for over 20 years. He first arrived in Flaine in 1969, the same year the resort opened, and has returned every season since! His intricate knowledge of the area and leading expertise means that he'll always take you to the best snow. An ISIA qualified instructor with years of technical knowledge and experience, Yann is held in very high regard amongst Ski Club members.

Diane is based in Flaine all winter, every winter, and has a tremendous knowledge of the local mountains. Passionate about skiing and extremely well versed in Flaine’s terrain, Diane knows exactly where to take you to ensure you find couloirs, gullies and mountainsides that will always leave you wanting more. Being a patient teacher who’s always open to new ideas makes Diane very popular with Ski Club members.

Alain Baudoin has been a key part of our team now for the past few years. Previously director of the ESI ski school in Flaine, he is now be working with us all season so he can teach what he loves the most – off piste and powder! Alain has been instructing in the Grand Massif all of his career and is an expert at getting the most from each individual he teaches whether skiing, snowboarding, telemarking or ski touring!

We also work regularly with some other highly regarded instructors carefully chosen by Yann. Luc Demontier and Philippe Clerc are both outstanding instructors who have been very well received by our members and consistently receive excellent feedback.

A set coach transfer from Geneva Airport is included in the holiday price. The coach times are the same every week:

Outbound - Depart Geneva at 2.30 pm. Expected arrival in to resort 4-4.30pm.

Inbound - Depart Flaine 9.30 am. Expected arrival at Geneva Airport 11-11.30am

Meeting point @ Geneva  - Jazz Cafe in the arrivals hall (turn right as you enter the arrival hall - direction towards the car hire)

Should your flight times not fit in with these times and you would prefer to organise your own transfer, we can recommend Go Massif who offer shared transfers to resort and will drop you directly at the chalet, or Altibus who operate the public bus to/from Flaine. If you arrange your own travel please make us aware so we can inform the Ski Club Rep and chalet team of your travel plans. Please note that we need everyone checked out of their rooms by 9.30 am and will not be able to check in to your room until 4.30pm.

Should you need to hire skis or boots then we highly recommend Sport2000 in Flaine Forum. Our regulars will be familiar with Seb, Hugo and Loic in the shop who are so helpful and welcoming to our members. They work closely alongside our instructor team to make sure they have an excellent range of kit perfect for our courses including Cham 87 & 97's Rossignol Sin and Soul 7's, Movement and Black Crows.

As well as providing great kit and excellent service they also offer all members a 20% discount and you can even leave your kit there each evening rather than taking it back to the chalet should you wish.

You can pre purchase your lift pass through Ski Club Freshtracks for £205 for a six day adult Grand Massif pass or £195 for a senior pass (over 65). This must be booked with the Freshtracks team by the Tuesday before departure
