Staying in the Freshtracks chalets is made even better by the epic on-snow experience that we want to give you! After an exploratory warm up day, you’ll be taught, guided, coaxed, tweaked (and entertained!) by some brilliant instructors.
The warm up day is free ski day where you get the chance to explore the resort, test your kit (and your legs!) and make sure you are all set for the days ahead.
The first morning with the instructors you will normally stay together as a large group for a couple of runs before a good old-fashioned 'ski off' where you'll all ski down an off piste section and will be allocated in to groups. From there you will spend the rest of your week with your group developing your skills and confidence moving to more and more challenging terrain and slopes as you progress. While the majority of your time will be spent off piste, you may well have some instruction on piste - particularly at the 'aspirer' (red) level - to improve your overall balance and control.
Yann, who heads up our team of instructors, has been managing our Freshtracks courses in Flaine for 22 years now. His team of carefully selected ISIA qualified instructors are there to help improve your off piste skiing whilst teaching you about all the different aspects of the off piste environment. With an extensive of local knowledge, the team will help you discover the best snow Flaine has to offer in a safe and enjoyable environment.
Within the instructor team is Diane Moreau, having spent over 30 winter seasons in Flaine she will share with you her love and passion for the mountains of Flaine. Her patient and friendly approach will make you feel as ease off piste.
Previously director of the ESI ski school in Flaine, Alain Baudouin brings his exceptional off piste knowledge and tuition to the team. Known for his legendary humour, you will be delighted to ski with him.
Raphaël Renon, the most recent addition to the instructor team, has spent many seasons teaching in Flaine and looks forward to welcoming more members to ski off piste with him. Luc Dumontier, well known by many members, knows Flaine like the back of his hand. He is a great teacher who will help you improve your technique whilst having a lot of fun.
And finally, heading up our Instructor Led Guiding program in Flaine is another key member of the Flaine team - Philippe Clerc. The Grand Massif is his home as he lives and works in Flaine all year round.
The instructors, together with our chalet team – Sue, Rachel and Peter, team all share the same goal of making your skiing holiday in Flaine a unique and special experience. Yann and the team look forward to welcoming many returning and new faces to Flaine this winter season.
