Forecast today: Light rain
Weekly programme, social hour, and contact details
The town is lively and there are some very good après ski bars – which whilst they might not rival Mayrhofen or St Anton – are extremely popular after a long day blasting around the huge network of tree-lined Ski Welt Pistes.
The only slight issue here is that the access lifts are located a walk or a short bus ride away from the centre of the village – but the 500m walk is definitely worth it as the best accommodation, restaurants and bars are all located in Söll itself and not at the foot of the Hochsöll access gondola.
There is a small beginner zone at the foot of the Hochsöll gondola, but at the top of this there is a gentle plateau that is ideal for beginners – plus it is more snowsure than the slopes in the valley. Progression on to longer blues is slightly tricky here as the Hohe Salve mountain is the steepest part of the Ski Welt and most of the runs are rated red. We would recommend that less confident skiers or boarders should head to Ellmau or Scheffau to access the gentle blues at Brandstadl.
The rest of the area is a vast network of wide, well-groomed, tree-lined blues and reds. This makes it a great resort for bad weather skiing, especially as a lot of the lifts have protective bubbles and seat heating. The sense of travel is excellent, but it must be noted that the challenges for advanced and expert skiers are somewhat limited, unless there has been fresh snowfall
Söll is a pleasant, friendly village and is bypassed by the main valley road.
The chalet-style buildings do spread quite widely, but the main core is compact – you can explore it on foot in a few minutes. Here is where you’ll find the best restaurants, shops and bars so we’d recommend staying here in one of the family-run hotels, despite the walk required to get to the lifts.
As mentioned, the resort is also famous for its après ski bars, which are lively even by Austrian standards. Prices here are also lower than at some other resorts – especially the likes of Ischgl or St_Anton – so you certainly get a good amount of beer for your buck. Don’t let this put you off however if you are a family looking for a ski holiday, but perhaps nearby Ellmau may be a better bet.
Dates for the 2023/24 season are still to be confirmed; the season at Soll typically runs from early December to Mid-April, with our Reps service commencing from early January.

The next week is looking very promising for most of the Austrian Alps with lots of snow from the Swiss and French Alps making its way over. Temperature levels seem to be hanging around the -5 to 0 degrees for most of the weekend and slowly creep into the + degrees at the start of next week.
Freezing level drops to 500m over the weekend but then shoots up to 2000m and stays at that altitude from Monday onwards.
High Pressure dominates the weekend and then makes a welcome return on Wednesday and looks as though it is here to stay for a while after.
The most up-to-date avalanche forecasting for Austria is provided at a state level – check out the European Avalanche Warning Services to find the relevant organisation for your destination.

I love to meet up with Ski Club members for a day on the slopes, preferably followed by a beer.
An early 'career' in athletics [the days of Coe and Ovett!] ensured I was a late starter on the slopes at 42. I've since spent most winter hols on skis and, now retired, I'm determined to ski even more.
The Geographer in me means I particularly enjoy making journeys through the landscape; ideal for all 3 of my Repping slots this year.
Please try and pre-register if you are coming to ski with me in resort so I know to look out for you in the social Hour or on the piste.
