Mölltal Glacier Ski Resort
For snowsure winter skiing and excellent summer training facilities, the Mölltal Glacier is a good option.
Although it is small, the Mölltal Glacier offers up some of Austria's best glacier skiing, with reliable snow conditions thanks to exceptional altitude and an arsenal of snow machines located on the glacier itself – it's no wonder therefore that the Austrian National Team use Mölltal for their summer and autumn training. There's 18km of slopes, not all of which open in the summer, with a decent amount of variety, plus there's also some decent off piste when conditions allow.
There's no accommodation at the foot of the long funicular that accesses the ski area, so you'll need to stay down in the valley in the village of Flattach. Nearby, there's also skiing at Ankogel and Heiligenblut isn't far away either. Klagenfurt is the closest airport (1.5 hours drive) with Salzburg (2 hours drive) is another option.
